I also want to know if all of my windows programs have to be on the same partition as the windows OS. Thanks!

No, Windows runs on an NTFS formatted partition which would be separate from Mac’s. The only way to run Windows without creating creating a new partition is not to bootcamp.
Sun, the makers of java, has a program called virtualbox, http://www.virtualbox.org/ , that allows you to run Windows while you are running MacOSX. It works very well and is what I use when I need to do something like that.
