Question by UpperCASE Computer Solutions: How to Install apple software on non-Intel systems?
I’m trying to install final cut studio 3 on an apple G4. I’m a PC guy personally but very technically inclined. I found a few guides about extracting the packages from the disks to edit the installation check information, however I’m kinda lost on how to do this. When I open any of the packages it launches the package launcher and kicks me out of the installer due to the limitation. Any know of a good step by step on how to install apple software on non-Intel based systems?

You can’t. If you’re technically inclined, you should know that Intel code will not run on PowerPC architecture.

Go to your apple logo on the top left. Click it. Then click about this mac…Check for the version you have. 10.5 is Leopard, 10.6 is Snow Leopard, 10.7 is Lion. If you want further info on your mac then just hit more info…(in about this mac box.)

UPdate your adobe flashplayer, Microsoft Silverlight, shockwave player, see if that makes a difference.

Because apple varieties (and this applies to more than just the MacIntosh) aren’t self-fertile. In order to produce fruit, they need to be cross pollinated by another apple variety, and if you have an understanding of genetics, when two organisms cross pollinate, the genetics of the offspring will be different than that of the parents. This doesn’t mean you wouldn’t get a tasty apple to eat, it just wouldn’t have the exact characteristics of the MacIntosh. That’s why MacIntosh growers have to rely on grafting to produce the fruit, because the stock that’s grafted onto the rootstock has the genetic makeup to produce MacIntoshes.

Question by : How often does apple make OS updates?
I just installed apples Lion os x on my macbook pro, and I don’t like it at all. There’s too many bugs and the quality of my isight camera has been horrible since I installed it. I heard the that Snow Leopard also had it share of problems when it first came out, how long did it take apple to patch that up? I hope they fix Lion soon, or i may consider downgrading.
Is anyone else experiencing problems with lion? Especially the bad quality of your isight?

Question by A.Y.M.: What happens to my PC if I were to uninstall Apple Software Update?
On my (Windows based) computer the only Apple software I have installed are iTunes 7.0 and Apple Software Update. I am a strong believer in installing the minimal amount of software possible, hence I have ignored all of the attempts to ask me to upgrade to iTunes 7.2.

I am considering uninstalling Apple Software Update and I have two questions.
1. If I were to uninstall Apple Software Update, will this “hurt” my iTunes?
2. With Apple Software Update installed, does this result in anything that’s always running in the background?

apple software update runs as a service.
if you remove it all will be fine, it just takes the guesswork out of updating any apple product.
you can always manually check for updates.
it will not effect itunes.
