I am still a student and do not have a credit card (although I have an extension of my mom’s) and I want to bid on an international item off eBay. The seller only accepts Paypal payments. Can someone explain to me how exactly does PayPal work, how it will take funds from my account? Thanks guys!

PayPal in itself is not a credit card,. You can get one through them however.
When you set up a PayPal account you have to link it to a bank account or credit card account that you already have. You can then either deposit money into your PayPal account or they can simply make the automatic withdraw from the account that you have linked to them. Using PayPal on eBay is the safest way to pay, They will refund your money if you do not receive your item. They will handle disputes that you may have with the seller or buyers (if you sell anything). It is quite easy to set up your account with them. Simply visit their website and they will walk you through it.

I recently started a Paypal account to pay someone around $ 2000 funded by my creditcard. I have just verified it today but it is still blocking my payment. Apparently I cannot use the creditcard at the time and I have to try again later. I have managed to transfer some money in a smaller amount over. Paypal is now saying ‘Authorization Failed’ for future transfers. Apparently this is because my account is new and they think it is suspicious.

Are there any other ways from other Payment processors that can take my creditcard payment and then deposit the amount to the designated Paypal account?

Creditcard has been confirmed by my Bank to be correct and working. My Paypal is enrolled in the ‘Expanded Use Program’ and is a Verified account. Paypal backed by Creditcard as Paypal do not provide Bank funding option for NZ’ers.

Both paying and receiving ends of the payments have their accounts located in New Zealand.
I have called Paypal and they said it was due to the spike as it was my first transfer and it was too big. For those who have gotten this error, will my creditcard ever work again? I was hoping to try in a few days.

Go to the help tab at the top in your paypal account. And then tab on to customer service and either call them or email them your question. This will give you the most reliable answer.

I don’t plan on buying using the account, and I don’t havea credit card. If I make an account, will PayPal only charge me 2.9% and $ 0.30 when I receive money, or will it withdraw that from my bank account even if I do not receive anything into the account?

Also, once I get money into it, how do I transfer PayPal money into my bank account?

when you join paypal, you have to hav a bank account and a backup creditcard. when buy something with paypal they will deduct it from your
bank account,if not enough money in your bank
account they take from your creditcard. paypal is
great.
